About Us

Establishment of Colleges of education in Punjab in private sector by Punjab Govt. is a progressive step to produce trained, qualified, skillful, and competent teachers within the state. In spite of scientific progress and invention of computers as teaching machine, latest audio- visual aids, the presence of teacher cannot be replaced or displaced in teaching learning process. I am of firm belief that a teacher is always a teacher. He never retires even after he is gone; he lives in his deeds and disciples. India is a land where Guru is worshipped. We have inherited the culture in which the Guru never went to the king. It was the king who approached Guru to seek his blessings and guidance in day-to-day affairs. Guru Nanak College of Education for Girls has started functioning during the session 2005-06 with a total intake of 100 students. But keeping into consideration of the infrastructure facility as well as the quality of education N.C.T.E. has approved an additional intake of 100 students in the session 2008-09 making it to 200. During the last session one of our student Mrs.Gurvinder Kaur secured 82.66% marks in annual result.

Guru Nanak College of Education for Girls was established in 2004 as a Teacher training institute by Jai Durga Educational and Welfare Society, Lehra Gaga. The College has been duly approved by NCTE, NRC- Jaipur by vide recognition order No.PB-590/NRC/NCTE/55747-48 Dated 9-08-2008 and is affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala to impart instructions to the teacher trainees, both boys and girls. The college is presently located in pollution free atmosphere at Lehal Kalan ,Lehra-Moonak Road About 4 K.M from Lehra Gagga. Technology lab, science lab, Language lab, Cooking lab, psychology lab, well established computer lab along with internet facility and more than 200mtr track for physical education.

The site of the college is spreading over more than 5.5 Acres of land and is connected by a link road. Where the management is going to start new professional courses like ETT, M. Ed. etc. There is a well maintained sports ground and hostels for male and female students and satisfying catering facilities. It is worth recording that the abundance of flowers with lush green garden in the vicinity of present site provides a healthy and pollution free environment for staff and students. The main idea behind opening this college is to meet the educational needs of the students of this backward area.

The College library is rich in terms of books on text, reference and general nature. In addition the college has been subscribing to seven daily newspapers (English, Hindi as well as Punjabi), employment news (weekly) and more than fifteen magazines & journals. There is proper and adequate seating arrangement for students in library where the students can consult the relevant reading material. A trained librarian and library attendant are managing the library building.

It is an established fact that; “Without good teacher even the best of system is bound to fail, and with good teachers even the defects of a system can be largely overcome.” A highly qualified, experienced, dedicated and accountable faculty including visiting professors will conduct the course. It is well known fact that quality of teachers - their commitment and motivation for the teaching profession and their professional training is the most important factor which influences the quality of education. Therefore the training of the institute endeavors to provide modern facilities for curricular & co-curricular programmes. The college has CCTV facility in the campus to closely monitor the activities of the students and teachers.

The college has been actively participating in social & educational activities, organized by the Government and private agencies. At the N.S.S camp, Youth Festival, World AIDS Awareness day, Sports Meet, 15th August and 26th January, our staff and students have made a marked difference. Our educational tours enrich the life of students and teachers which they demonstrate in day to day interaction.

The diligence of our students and staff has resulted in high achievements of our teacher trainees in the Academic, cultural and athletic field. Keeping into consideration of the above factors. The Guru Nanak College of Education for Girls has its clear, distinct and community oriented objectives.
